STYLE GURU BIO: Jasmine Saenz

Hey y’all! My name is Jasmine Jade Saenz. I’m a California born girl, southernly raised deep in the heart of Texas. I am also currently a Sophomore at the University of Missouri, studying Journalism with a minor in Textile and Apparel Management (otherwise known as fashion). This is my very first semester as a Style Guru and I’m incredibly stoked to be sharing it with y’all!

Being surrounded by so many diverse communities has really molded me into my eclectic style. I am the oldest and only girl of three other siblings. Along with this came the constant question: “Do you wish you had a sister?”. When I was younger of course I said yes but, as I grew up I started to realize that the bond I have with my mom is way better than any type of relationship I could’ve had with a sister that doesn’t exist. I’m not trying to get all sappy here but, she’s truly the reason I have any type of style.

Now, also growing up in the social media savvy era, I became obsessed with watching YouTube fashion and makeup videos. The second my mom allowed me to wear makeup in junior high, I would stay up late practicing makeup tutorial looks and matching them with outfits. I submerged myself into a world that really had no limits or as Cady Heron would say, “The limit does not exist”.

I’ve noticed that many of my peers at Mizzou casually stroll around in mainly tennis skirts, T-shirts and athletic shorts. I’m not going to lie, I am definitely one of these people. I mean why not wear what’s comfortable when your student loan debt is most likely anything but comfortable. Believe me, I understand that 100 percent, especially being an out of state student.

Although this is all true, I’m hoping that CollegeFashionista urges me to dress up for class every once and a while. I also hope to catch the few on campus that put effort into their everyday style on the days that the ‘comfy college student’ look is just calling my name.

I’m so excited to share with y’all the gems I find around Mizzou’s campus!
