STYLE GURU BIO: Hannah Branam

Hello everyone! My name is Hannah Marie Branam and I currently a junior at Ball State University in Indiana and studying to get my degree in apparel design. Fashion is my whole world: I am constantly looking out for new trends and spending my money on clothes. This is my first time writing for CollegeFashionista and I couldn’t be more excited.

It is always crazy for me to think of where my fashion intuitions came from because as a child I had no style what so ever. I would only wear five outfits, and I would throw a fit if I had to change that. My first memory of falling in love with fashion is when my parents took me out to eat at a restaurant and I saw these girls dressed up to go to prom. I was mesmerized by their big ball gowns and the bright vibrant colors. To me, these girls looked like royalty, and I wanted to be just as glamorous as they were. From that point on I was hooked on fashion and to this day I still cannot get enough.

My style has changed so much through out the years, but that is how you find out who you are. Style is telling people who you are before you even speak a word, and I think that is the best part of fashion. My current style is very experimental: I love to put a retro twist on some outfits, but then I like to switch it up and be edgy the next day. My outfits all depend on my mood, and it’s at times unpredictable and leaves people guessing.

For this look, I wanted a sophisticated look, but dressed down a little bit. I simply paired a velvet dress with one of my favorite obsessions in shoes right now: thigh-high boots. Finally, I topped it off by adding a hoodie of mine that I cut so only the sleeves and hood were attached. By doing this, it gives the outfit a sport chic look and makes it perfect street wear.
