STYLE GURU BIO: Emma Schilling

Hey ladies and gents, I am Emma. I’m a freshman majoring in marketing and international business while minoring in fashion merchandising at Indiana University. I have always been extremely passionate about fashion and I couldn’t be more excited to experience this semester with you, me, and of course, CollegeFashionista.

The essence of my style ranges from tomboy prep to ’70s comfort. I love trying new styles, and I swear by wearing denim all day, every day. I like a style that is easy to wear, but not necessarily easy to pull off. More than just my own style, my favorite thing about clothing is the way it can make you feel. That’s why I believe that comfort and confidence is the key to any look.

In short, whether you dare to wear flares, or appreciate a good collared shirt, I’m sure we will get along just fine (GREAT) this semester.

This look is on the preppier side of my style, but I just love it. Navy is my version of black most of the time, and this sweater pairs well with just about everything. My bucket bag and shoes are both in Madewell’s English Saddle leather. My brown pants are considered garment dyed denim and can be paired with any color blouse or shirt and dressed up or down depending on your occasion. Layering a collared shirt and a crewneck sweater is my go-to class look and it’s an effortless way to look “put-together” all the time.
