STYLE GURU BIO: Devin Ridenbaugh

Hello fellow fashionistas/os!  My name is Devin Ridenbaugh and I am a freshman at McKinley College. I was born and raised in northeastern Ohio and there aren’t too many people that have as much love for fashion as me or know how to put together a basic outfit. So as you might think, my love for fashion did not come right away.

During my sophomore year of high school, fashion started to become a big interest of mine.  Having an older sister that works in retail made me like it more and more. My sister was a district manager for Wet Seal so looking at the latest trends she was wearing made me want to dress just like her. I really started to find my own style, and it all went up from there.

After graduating from high school, I got my first retail job at Body Central as a sales associate. This was such a dream of mine, working in a clothing store, what could be better?  As customers walked through the door, I would piece together outfits for them if they were going somewhere special.  After just a couple of months, I got promoted to an assistant manager and that was when I decided that I wanted to further my education in fashion.  After Body Central went bankrupt, I found my current job as an assistant manager at rue21. Now, I get to work on floor sets and put my own touch of style onto the fixture displays.  Visuals are my favorite thing to do; I aspire to be a visual merchandiser at rue21.

With working at rue21, my love for fashion grows on a day-to-day basis.  There isn’t anything better than expressing yourself through your wardrobe.  My favorite outfit combos would have to be a basic pair of denim, combined with a casual loose top and adding your own style by accessorizing with a statement necklace and bracelets to create the perfect casual look.  Fashion is constantly changing, but I believe that your sense of style does not.  Like Coco Chanel said, “Fashion changes, but style endures.”

I am beyond ecstatic to start this experience with CollegeFashionista.  Let’s have a great semester!
