STYLE GURU BIO: Danielle Smith

Hey there, Fashionistas! My name is Danielle Smith and this is my second semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. Last semester, I flourished during the internship. Talking to people around DePauw’s campus helped me see how many different styles people have, while also allowing me to grow to appreciate the uniqueness of everyone’s style.

Learning and seeing all these styles has allowed my style to transform. I now wear big and bolder outfits and feel super confident in them. For example, last semester I would have never pictured myself wearing a faux fur jacket like I am in my photos. Now, I am in love with this statement jacket. My style has evolved from stylish but average to now wearing an audacious combination of prints, furs, and many other daring pieces.

I love this outfit for many different reasons. I like the jacket because it adds uniqueness to the outfit, but I also am in love with the knee-high black boot. Before being a Style Guru, I don’t think I would have worn over the knee boots, given that I am only five feet tall. Seeing people on campus wearing outfits I didn’t expect them in gave me the confidence to go out of my bubble and buy the boots. I now wear these shoes almost every other day because I love the high class look they add to any outfit.

I also love the simplicity of this look by adding the big (but simple!) black earrings from Kendra Scott. I wear these earrings quite often because they add satisfaction to a look. Another obsession I have recently accumulated is rings. In this outfit, I am wearing rings on both hands and I am stacking them. This combination of big earrings and lots of rings is a new fondness I have learned to love. By being a Style Guru, I have became way more confident and am able to add aspects of satisfaction to everything I wear.

Ever since I was a little girl, my family knew I would be fashionable. I have always had an obsession with looking put together and adding unique pieces to every outfit. Being a Style Guru has allowed this obsession to flourish. I can’t wait to start my second semester with you Fashionistas and explore more of what being fashionable really means.
