STYLE GURU BIO: Daniela Hernandez

Hi there! My name is Daniela Hernandez and I am a student at California State University, Long Beach. I am majoring in journalism with a specialization in public relations and minoring in fashion merchandising. This is my first semester writing for CollegeFashionista and I am excited to show my perspective of fashion.

Fashion is everything to me, much like many other Fashionistas/os. I am the one person in my household that everyone comes to for advice. I like to tell my mom the truth, and if something does not show off her “mom figure” the right way, I march into her closet to find the perfect outfit. I believe fashion represents who you are and gives others a glimpse into your personality. For example, the large bell sleeves on this cropped sweater are a play on how I can be just a tad dramatic, while the embroidery reminds me of my Mexican culture. The jeans with a released hem show off my casual side and the booties keep me standing tall with confidence.

So what does this Mexican girl do for hobbies? Well, when I’m not eating tacos or sipping on horchata, I am usually scrolling through my Instagram feed. I have to admit, I spend a lot of my time on social media because I believe I am going to be the next #girlboss at a top fashion PR agency and it is crucial to keep up with all the celebs. (Side note: I am happy to see the selfie queen (Kim K.) is back on her feet.) Other than mindlessly wandering on Instagram, I am watching Game of Thrones, working out at the gym, sorting through thrift store racks, or making smoothies at Robeks.

And there you have it. That’s just a little snippet of my life. As the semester continues, I hope to share a little bit more about me and inspire you to do things out of your comfort zone.
