STYLE GURU BIO: Dana Pernini

August 30th, 2016 at 2:00am

What a year it has been, I can’t believe I’m celebrating one year as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista and writing yet another bio at the start of my fourth semester here!

For those of you who don’t know me, I am going into my junior year studying fashion design at Drexel University in Philadelphia. I’ve also just returned home from studying abroad at the London College of Fashion this summer. I was a part of an eight-week program where I had many great opportunities. For example, I took a millinery class instructed by one of the queen’s milliners. Also, I worked with professional photographers and hair and makeup artists in styling my own editorial photoshoot.

In my spare time this summer, I got to explore London and really fall in love with the city and do some traveling too. I visited Paris, Amsterdam, Bruges which is in Belgium, Barcelona and Lugano, Switzerland. At the end of the program, I met up with my family in Italy and traveled the country of my ancestors for two weeks. In fact, I visited 20 towns during that time. To tally it all up, that’s 10 weeks, seven countries, 27 towns and tons of great memories and artsy pictures! Now, I’m back home waiting until mid-September to return to school and embracing all of the different cultures, languages, architectural styles, cuisines and fashions that I’ve been so fortunate to encounter this summer.

One great thing I discovered abroad was Primark. This discounted wonderland exists in America too, but I’d never been before as it isn’t as big a thing here as it is in England and across Europe. My outfit here consists primarily of Primark fashions. One of my favorite things I bought was my pocketed overall dress, which is a major style I saw all over Europe. Underneath, I’ve kept the stripes going with an off the shoulder top with three-quarter length sleeves. My last Primark find featured here is my headpiece. It adds the perfect amount of sparkle and unique elegance to my look. I break up the mostly white look with nude fringe sandals and a matching nude fringe bag.

This look is just one I picked up abroad, but my entire outlook on dressing and style evolved into a new form this summer. I’m looking forward to getting rid of some of the old styles in my life and replacing them with the new styles I’ve grown to love while abroad. And of course, I’m also looking forward to another #RAD semester at CollegeFashionista.
