STYLE GURU BIO: Cynthia Park

Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Cynthia, and I’m so excited to be coming back as a Style Guru for my final year at Middlebury College. I’ve taken some time off from writing for CollegeFashionista to focus on editing with the editorial team, and now I’m back after a year’s hiatus!

After studying abroad this past spring in London, I’m excited to come back and be reunited with my a cappella group, the Paradiddles, and my dance troupe, Riddim (casual shout out to both groups). Growing up in Los Angeles, I’m used to dressing for eternal summer, but I can’t wait to get cute with layers and wear boots like there’s no tomorrow. I don’t even own that many, but I’m all for the motto of “treat yoself.”

This summer, I was a social media intern for 2020AVE, an online women’s fashion store, and it was so exciting to be on the other side of fashion—instead of writing about outfits that were already styled, I got to see what pieces we were going to have in our inventory in the coming weeks, as well as style looks and outfits with pieces we already had. One of my favorite tasks was styling outfits for a feature on the numerous music festivals held this summer, like Outside Lands, Lollapalooza and FYF Fest. I also loved being present for the photo shoots and creating flat lays for Instagram—super difficult, but very rewarding when you see the final result!

As for this fall, I’ll be a senior majoring in Linguistics and minoring in Dance, so I’ll be busy with writing a thesis, finding a job after graduation, balancing my extracurriculars and still managing to have a social life. However, I’m so excited to spot fall fashion trends on Midd’s campus—personally, I’m looking forward to seeing earthy tones and all the pretty fall neutrals that I’m sure people will be rocking. I’m also eager to see what beauty trends I’ll be able to spot when I’m back in Vermont!

I’m in the middle of finding my true style and aesthetic, but I’d like to say it’s a minimalist femme kind of style with muted and neutral colors. I also like to explore sometimes with the way I layer pieces, like the sleeveless chiffon top I chose to wear as a lightweight vest over my maroon tank top. I also love the way heels make me feel, even though I’m already pretty tall. Accessories are something I secretly hoard, and this Topshop necklace is no exception—it’s definitely one of the best purchases I made while abroad.

If you like what you see here, feel free to follow me on social media, and keep up with my many adventures!
