STYLE GURU BIO: Clare Maurer

In the wise words of my favorite stylish (albeit fictional) woman, Carrie Bradshaw, “I like my money where I can see it—hanging in my closet.” Carrie knew that clothes were the best way to express yourself and to show the world who you are. Carrie’s personality and soul shined through her ensembles, and that’s what I hope my fashion accomplishes too.

Hi, I’m Clare, and I’m so excited to showcase style trends found at my campus, Monmouth University, this fall. Autumn is the absolute best season for fashion—oversized sweaters, ripped jeans, suede boots and bright colored scarfs. But as August comes to an end and September creeps up on is, it’s still not quite cold enough for classic fall garb. I love wearing a flowy tank top with skinny jeans and chunky heeled boots as a fun transition from summer to fall!

This Lauren Conrad top features the soft pastels that I love rocking in spring and summer, but it’s neutral enough to transition into fall. Light-washed distressed skinny jeans are a must have item this season, and I’m obsessed with rolling mine up over my new Candie’s boots. The moss color of these shoes is perfect for colder weather, and I can’t wait to discover new ways to wear them.

I’m about to be a senior at Monmouth, so this year is all about last chances and new discoveries. It’s time to take risks—especially in the fashion sense! I hope that you’ll join me in my first semester as a Style Guru, and my last year as a college student. Let’s conquer this new semester just like Carrie would.
