STYLE GURU BIO: Christina D’Ambrosio

Welcome back and happy school year, Fashionista/os! My name is Christina D’Ambrosio, and I am a junior studying communications at Fordham University. I have been a member of the CollegeFashionista #GuruGang for almost two years, making this my fourth semester as a Style Guru. Throughout my time at Fordham, my style has had a serious glo-up. If you asked me to put on my favorite outfit three or four years ago, theres an 85 percent chance it would include a cardigan. Let’s all take a moment to consider that, shall we? Some staples I cannot live without now include my suede lace-up Steve Madden flats, black skinny jeans and nude lipstick.

This fall, I am trading my dorm in the Bronx for a flat in the heart of London…“Hello from the other side,” much? I couldn’t be more thrilled to report on different style sightings from my semester abroad and seeing how it influences my own personal style. As I draw most of my style inspiration from the cities I’m surrounded by, I have pretty high expectations for London fashion. Whether it is a new take on something basic or an emerging trend, it is always interesting to get a fresh perspective on personal style.

Because I’m always on the hunt for inspo, I am a total Instagram addict. Scrolling through my feed of other Style Gurus, fashion bloggers and celebrities, finding a new trend to try has never been easier. Why let technology go to waste, am I right? My current style icons—Kim Kardashian West, Selena Gomez and Danielle Bernstein of We Wore What—are always showing off perfectly-styled, yet easy to recreate looks. These ladies have similar tendencies for taking minimalist pieces and turning them into head-turning everyday looks, which is a vibe I can totally get behind.

With my clothes limited to what I could squeeze into two suitcases, this semester poses a great fashion challenge. I am excited to see how far I can stretch my limited wardrobe using social media, London street style and other CollegeFashionista Style Gurus as my muses. I look forward to reporting on my findings from across the pond, and seeing what all of the other #RAD Style Gurus at home come up with as well. Let’s make this semester our best yet!
