STYLE GURU BIO: Chloe Sucato

Hello fashion friends! My name is Chloe Sucato and I am a junior at Vassar College. I am a Political Science and Italian double major with a minor in Philosophy. I am excited to start my journey with CollegeFashionista this fall because I am studying abroad in Bologna, Italy this semester. I hope to capture the essence of Italian university fashion so that I can fuse my personal style with Italian influences.

In regard to my sense of style, I like to think that it’s a hybrid of edgy and classic. I tend to gravitate toward darker colors that I can pair with accents of colors and prints. Some of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe include a black blazer, medium-wash American Eagle skinny jeans and leopard flats. Since I like to experiment and be bold with makeup, my daily makeup look has evolved to become just as integral a component of my outfit as my jewelry or my handbag.

My style has matured over the past few years as I prepare to enter the professional career world, moving away from colored skinny jeans and graphic T-shirts to staple dresses and dressy pants. I find that dressing the part often gives me a boost of confidence to act the part. What you wear is not only an extension of who you are now, but also of who you want to become.

Although I have a firmer grasp on what I prefer wearing as I begin my 20s, my daily fashion decisions are constantly in flux. I take inspiration from both new and old trends and from my surroundings and interests. As the great Coco Chanel said, “Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” I strive to remember these words because they encompass the fact that style is about individuality and interpretation.

I can’t wait to meet some Fashionistas/os during my travels and share their style with you all. Let’s get ready for a fashionable semester!
