STYLE GURU BIO: Carli Solomon

Growing up in south Florida, my wardrobe consisted of Hollister Co. jean shorts, endless amounts of bikinis, spaghetti strap tank tops and a variety of flip flops. There was never a need to swap out my summer apparel for North Face sweaters and Burlington coats, and the term “layers” just meant a type of haircut. As a little girl, throwing on a sundress every time there was some sort of occasion never seemed to be an issue, but then I grew up and became the fashion-obsessed individual that I am today. Now, my world is defined by seasons as I follow all the fashion weeks from New York and London, to Milan and Paris. And by follow, I mean from behind my computer with a bag of popcorn wedged between my leg. But hey, a girl can dream. Following the latest trends through social media outlets, magazines and just by observing the world around me has become a major part of my life and has lead me to want to pursue fashion as a career.

I am a first year student at Florida State University majoring in Communication Studies and minoring in Journalism. I developed my passion for journalism and media in high school as an editor for my school’s yearbook. I hope to move to New York City once my college career at FSU is completed and my dream is to work for a big time fashion magazine.

My style can best be described as easy and simple. I feel that the best outfits are the ones that are clean and effortless. My fashion role models are Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. I admire their style because of their boho, care-free look. My outfits normally consists of plain, simple clothing such as a crop top and boyfriend jeans, with a statement necklace to jazz it up. My favorite clothing brand is Brandy Melville because of their comfy, affordable basics.

Well, that’s everything there is to know about me—now let’s talk fashion!
