Hello my fellow Fashionstas/os! My name is Brittany Pontbriand and I am a junior at Boston University majoring in Film and Television and minoring in Women’s Studies. I love everything fashion and am really excited to be a Style Guru this fall!

Fashion is a creative outlet that allows for a wide range of expression. I love the diversity of the art. Whether it is sophisticated, preppy, edgy, vintage, Western, sporty, punk, boho or anything else, I find each style to have its own charm. The great thing about fashion is that it does not need to be categorized by a single adjective. The combination of different charms can create a whole new look.

Being from and going to school in a state that experiences four seasons (let us not forget the unbearable snowstorms and cold that Massachusetts faced this year), I have learned that functionality of an outfit is a must. Even when braving New England’s unpredictable weather, fashion is still a necessity to me. I love dance, road tripping, movies, traveling and music. Using my interests as inspiration, I try to create fun looks that are representative of myself while maintaining a factor of functionality .

With that being said, I consider my style to be fun, functional and versatile. Mixing prints, solids and statement jewelry tends to be my go-to for assembling my outfits. I also try to incorporate layers into all of my looks as well because you never know what conditions you could be faced with. For this feminine outfit, I paired a patterned dress with a jean jacket to make the ensemble more casual. Combined with a fun necklace and cute wedges, this outfit is perfect for transitioning from a day of shopping on Newbury Street to a dinner at the North End.

Ever since I can remember, I have always tried to be different when it comes to fashion. As I mentioned before, fashion is a form of expression. Everyone is not the same, so they should not feel pressure to dress the same. As I walk to class along the busy streets of Boston, I see students pass by that are all rocking their own individual looks. I am thrilled to begin this adventure with CollegeFashionista this semester. My hope is to give you all a glimpse of the diverse trends I pass by on a daily basis.
