STYLE GURU BIO: Brigid Walshe

Hi everyone! My name is Brigid and I’m super excited to be a Fashionista this semester!  I’m a sophomore and a finance and French double major at Providence College (go Friars!). I love Harry Potter, classic movies (my favorite, The Sound of Music), summer thunderstorms, traveling, my camera, Michael Bublé (he has more than his Christmas album, and it’s good, trust me), beaches, snowy mountains, anything having to do with France, coffee, a bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel and life.

I love fashion because it gives people the ability to display their creativity and express their persona. Growing up less than an hour away from the fashion capital of the world (the Big Apple, of course), I’ve learned the beauty of diversity when it comes to fashion and standards of beauty, thanks to the City of Dreams. Now, I study in the creative capital, where there is art around every corner. This combo has inspired me to branch out and explore fashion in a kind of fun, experimental way and try out trends that are unique.

My style is spontaneous and funky. I love classic, timeless styles, like the polka-dot dress with an ascot tied around the neck that I’m wearing. I also love the boho, urban street style you see around the city.

My dress and headband are from Anthropologie (my favorite store) and shoes are from Lands’ End. I’m super obsessed with the vintage 1960s looks, which is why I LOVE this polka-dot, ascot dress. I know that Anthropologie can be a little pricey but I found this gem in the sale section, where a college student can find some great deals.

I’m super excited to start this journey with CollegeFashionista and hope this inspires everyone to be bold and creative in fashion and unafraid to find expression through fashion. Here’s to a RAD semester!
