STYLE GURU BIO: Breion Hawkins

Hello Fashionistas and Fashionistos. My name is Breion Hawkins, and this is my first semester as a Style Guru! Currently, I am a sophomore at Bowling Green State University, in Ohio. I am majoring in Apparel Merchandising and Product Development with a minor in Marketing; therefore, I bet you can imagine how excited I am about participating in this internship withe CollegeFashionista.

With the new school year approaching, I am tremendously excited, as I aim to become an active member on campus. Outside of attending classes and working on my Style Guru internship, I will be working on campus at the career center as a Student Ambassador. Not only will I be working on campus, but I will also be a part of the SEARCH community, where we explore the bigger questions in life, and practice leadership. In addition to being a part of the SEARCH community, I plan to join the AMPD club, which is a club for the students who majors in Apparel Merchandising and Product Development.

So, as you may see, I have full plate this semester. However, that does not affect the excitement I have for this internship. I am excited to begin this internship, as it is something that I have always wanted to do, but never had the courage or motivation to actually follow through with. Since I’m not exactly a fashion expert, I have always felt strange about attempting to pursue a career in fashion. However, after discovering CollegeFashionista, I believe you do not have to be an expert to try something you love.

During this internship, I hope to learn and grow as an individual and as a Fashionista in the making. I look forward to discovering and viewing the different students’ styles article after article. As for my personal style, I consider it to be versatile, as things like time, place and mood plays a role in my attire. I’m always changing whether it is my taste in wardrobe, hair, or makeup.

In the pictures, I am wearing a cream Draped Open-Front Cardigan from Forever 21, a royal blue knit V-Neck cami from Forever 21, denim washed Distressed Patchwork Jeans from Forever 21+, a silver Fringe Choker Necklace from Rue21, a blue and white “printed headband” from Rue21, a black pair of Tassel Sandals from Shoedazzle.com, and a silver Charm Bracelet gifted by my boyfriend. The inspiration behind this outfit was mainly mood and place. Since it is just the beginning of the school year and  I am not yet drained from classes, I was willing to put together a cute outfit, that would help show I am a fashion merchandising major, instead of an outfit that questioned it.

So, despite the stressful school year that is to come, I can’t wait to see what it has in store and to share the styles around the Bowling Green campus during this RAD semester.
