Hello Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Averi, and I’m starting my junior year at the University of South Florida. I’m majoring in Mass Communications, with a concentration in Advertising. This is my first semester as a Style Guru, and I’m excited to be able to combine things I love (fashion, photography and writing) into one.

I grew up in Germany on an American military base, so I was always surrounded by European fashion. I’ve done a lot of traveling, and if I had to choose the moment I fell in love with fashion, it would probably be on my first trip to Italy. I remember walking around the streets not only in awe of the beautiful country, but also of the beautiful clothing. Everyone strutted around looking glamorous in an effortless way, and they wore a lot of black.

This is probably where my love of black stems from. As you can see if my pictures, I am a big fan of the color black and dresses. I tend to stick with neutral colors and basic pieces that can be worn for multiple occasions. Shoes, accessories, hair and makeup can change an outfit so easily. I like to spice up my outfits with necklaces that range from simple to bold. Here, I choose to wear handmade necklaces (shoutout to my cousin) with my outfit, because the contrast between the black of the dress and the gold cause them to stand out. I’m also wearing a lacy bralette and some cute, everyday strappy sandals to dress up the outfit.

I look forward for discovering the latest trend this semester, and finding new ways to dress for the never ending Florida heat!
