STYLE GURU BIO: Annika Florio

January 4th, 2017 at 2:00am

Hello, Fashionistas! My name is Annika Florio and I am a sophomore student at Elon University! I am so stoked to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista this semester and I hope you are excited to read my rambles. I am a communications major with a love for social media and photography and a passion for brunch and mashed potatoes. (Is that even relevant? I’d say always). I love fashion and am a true believer that your style has nothing to do with the expense of your clothes, but rather how your personality shows through what you’re wearing.

I’m no expert, but I like to consider myself a major fashion risk taker. I’m a bad style rule follower, and absolutely wear my white jeans past Labor Day and encourage others to do so. If you were to go into my closet, the majority of my clothes would be from a neutral palette (love those earth tones) and a lot of black, but you would definitely find some super eclectic patterns as well! Black is the new vibrant, right? I like to go for cute and comfortable whenever possible, but I love dressing up so I’m always eager for an excuse to go on a nice dinner date with my friends. I’m obsessed with chokers, black ripped jeans, and all things snakeskin. I currently own two pairs of snakeskin pants, three snakeskin tops, a snakeskin dress, and a snakeskin jumpsuit. Too much? I’ll never stop. Currently in search of a worthy snakeskin bikini. Send suggestions!

One of my favorite things about Elon University is that everyone is always so well dressed. Unfortunately the weather in North Carolina can be very bipolar—really hot one day; windy and chilly the next—so you really never know what you’re gonna get. I often find myself moving from a heavy sweater to a T-shirt as the day goes on. People get dressed up for class often, and although it is never frowned upon to have a day in your joggers and sweatshirt, the majority of the students walking through campus are always sporting the newest trends.

In the photos I am wearing a fur vest, basic white blouse, black suede boots, and gray pants! I wore this look to a holiday party and loved how it came together. Anyway, I am so excited to be writing for CollegeFashionista this semester and I can’t wait to be able to ramble about my love for fashion to you all. Check back soon for some updates from Fashionistas on Elon University’s campus!
