STYLE GURU BIO: Amada Mia Garcia

January 8th, 2015 at 2:00am

Hey everyone! My name is Amada Garcia and I’m currently a sophomore at Florida International University in the Modesto A. Maidique campus. I’ve been experimenting with different majors while studying at FIU, but I have always thought about a career in fashion styling. Being a Style Guru will be my first concrete step toward that dream, and I’m so excited to get started.

Ever since I was about 10 years old, I was interested in fashion. I drew countless designs for extravagant gowns that I would show my mother and ask for her opinion as a grown woman. That interest stuck with me throughout my high school years when I finally experimented with my own fashion by altering my school uniform and trying new hairstyles. High school was a fun and interesting time in my life because I gained so much confidence through creating an image of myself that I was proud to show the world.

Nowadays, I strive to keep myself updated with the goings on of the fashion world and to continually evolve my style. My friends consider me a type of style chameleon because of how my style can change from being feminine and dainty for a picnic to androgynous and urban for skateboarding around campus. I always look to others for inspiration, and try to take risks with my fashion choices. Hopefully through this new experience with you fellow Fashionistas/os, I will learn more about fashion and how it plays a very important and stylish role in our lives.
