STYLE GURU BIO: Alice Chen

Hey Fashionistas! My name is Alice and I am a senior at The University of Akron, studying natural science. This is my second semester as a Style Guru and I am super excited to write for CollegeFashionista this upcoming fall!

Over the years, my style has definitely changed and evolved. Before college, I always thought that I should stick to one particular style, which consisted of preppy and classic pieces. Ever since I started college, I began to get out of my comfort zone and dabble in different styles. I love putting different pieces together to create a style of my own. That’s what I love about fashion. There are no rules. There isn’t a right or wrong way to wear something. There are just different ways of wearing it.

When I’m not in the library studying, you can usually find me hanging out with friends, channeling my inner foodieor watching Game of Thrones. I am obsessed with anything Aimee Song wears and I believe that the best trend of 2016 is the block heel. Also, I love everything at Madewell. Like seriously—everything.

For this look, I decided to incorporate some fall pieces for the upcoming season. I paired this maroon mock neck top with an a-line button-down denim skirt. I also draped this lightweight scarf, which is a great piece for transitioning from summer to fall . Since the outfit is pretty simple, the details on the scarf give this look some uniqueness and personality. I finished the outfit by wearing a gold bangle and a dainty anklet to keep the look simple.

I am thrilled to be given this opportunity to share my personal style, as well as others on campus. Make sure to stick around each month to see the latest fashion trends! Remember to have a #RAD semester!
