STYLE GURU BIO: Alexa Barton

Hello, everyone! My name is Alexa Barton and I am beyond excited to be writing for CollegeFashionista for the spring 2017 semester. I am currently a junior at Kent State University’s Fashion School. I am majoring in fashion merchandising and double minoring in entrepreneurship and fashion media. I plan to graduate in 2018. I am from Milton, Pennsylvania; there’s not much to do where I live but work. I work at T.J. Maxx while on my school breaks and I love it! I hope to possibly work my way up to corporate with this great company.

Fashion is my passion and I really enjoy helping others find their style. My style is very much inspired from the ’80s and ’90s hip hop and R&B era. My mother, as well as music videos and old popular movies are my primary inspirations when it comes fashion. Out of all of the artists that I admire from this time period, Aaliyah is my favorite. She was known for her feminine take on tomboy style.

To introduce my style to you, I wanted to show my typical outfit. I am wearing all-black. I have a long sleeve black crew neck T-shirt and black leggings. I have an off-white faux fur coat thrown over my shoulders. I also threw on my go-to black Nike Air Huaraches. To accessorize, I wore a dark lipstick and gold oversized earrings. I have a black purse and a denim baseball cap to add detail. This outfit is perfect to go out for the day, whether it be to class, shopping around the mall or to a basketball game. It is cute but also very comfortable. I am very much into wearing relaxed outfits, but making them fun and fashionable. Hope you enjoy reading my articles this semester!
