STYLE GURU BIO: Aleixka Macfie

Hey there, Fashionistas/os! My name is Aleixka Macfie and this fall I will be starting my junior year at James Madison University. I am majoring in the School of Media Arts and Design with a concentration in Journalism and a minor in Spanish—I hope to one day pursue a career in the magazine industry. This is my first semester as a Style Guru and I am beyond thrilled to be taking part in such a #RAD opportunity!

So here’s a little about me: I am originally from Puerto Rico, but have lived in Florida and Virginia and have traveled all over Europe and the U.S. I am a complete book worm and am currently involved with Her Campus Media as a National Contributing Writer and as JMU’s chapter Campus Correspondent. I am also a Contributing Writer for Pink Pangea where I get to blog about all my past travel experiences. “Just say yes and you’ll figure it out afterwards” is my personal motto. I am always looking for new opportunities and trying to get involved with whatever possible.

My style is kind of all over the place. Basically, whatever I like I buy. I can go from super preppy one day to more sporty or boho the next. I love the freedom of being able to personalize my style. I usually go for more neutral colors and basics so that I can mix and match with other trends and accessories. I’m always trying to go for a minimal and natural look.

For my outfit, I decided to go with the matchy-matchy statement separates – a non-clashing 2-in-1 trend. I used the co-ord, with its bold print, as the main statement piece (I have a severe soft spot for stripes—they help elongate my petite body) minimizing accessories to a simple open cuff and brown, wide-strapped heels. The consistency of the matching set works perfect for any occasion.

Thanks for checking out my first post! Make sure to take a study break with me and check out my #RAD articles! From strutting it on campus to a night on the town, I’ve got you covered!
