Hello fashion lovers and trendsetters!

First and foremost, my name is Ajea Nicole and this is my first semester as a Style Guru and I am so excited to see what this experience entails. Currently, I am a junior at Lasell College located in Newton, Massachusetts studying Communication, with a concentration in Journalism. In addition, I am also minoring in Fashion Communication and Promotion.

As the only girl of two brothers, fashion and clothes have always been something that I loved. However, growing up, I attended a private Christian school, so having to be confined to uniforms was always a constant pain. I never liked uniforms because I felt like I lacked a sense of individuality.

Once I entered high school and went to a school where uniforms were not required, that is where my love of fashion took off. One thing that I love about fashion is that it is almost like segments or stories of a book—each chapter is different from the one before, but the story remains interesting as the page is turned.

Now that I am 20 years old, I admire the sense of fashion that I possess and the daring person that I am becoming when it comes to style. I enjoy taking risks and not being afraid of being label “weird” or different. Aside from the fact that fashion is like chapters of a book, it is also very unique, fresh and interesting, which keeps me so intrigued.

A few of my go-to pieces that I enjoy include statement necklaces and earrings. I personally never try and overdo a look, that is why I love necklaces and earrings if I am going for a casual or dressy look. Another staple that I often wear are blazers!

Someone once said, “Every woman must have at least a black blazer in her closest,” and I think I that is totally the case for me. Blazers are especially great because not only do they vary in occasion in which they can be worn, but they change my look from day to night in a matter of seconds.

Lastly, I am not the kind of gal that relies on makeup. I prefer a more natural look, so the only kind of makeup I wear is subtle eyeshadow, mascara and lipstick. My last go-to staple that I love to love is lipstick! I was never much of a lipstick person before, but without a doubt, any kind of lipstick whether it is ruby red or plum, elevates any look.

I am excited to be apart of the CollegeFashionista family and not only write articles, but also connect with other fashion lovers and trendsetters. Cheers to a fashion forward semester!
