STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: White After Labor Day

How many of you adhere to one of the oldest rules in the fashion industry, “No white after Labor Day?” Even those of us who aren’t fashion obsessed are aware of this rule. And maybe there are some of us who wear it anyways, because we’re rule breakers and like to be different. I’m here to tell you that you should definitely wear white after Labor Day. Times are changing, maybe it’s time that this age old rule be put away. Fall’s 2015 ready-to-wear shows presented beautiful white ensembles from designers like Ralph Lauren. Even iconic brand Chanel showed their signature suit in all white.

This Fashionista is wearing a perfectly chic outfit; white pants with a gray sweater, that will transition nicely from fall into winter. She opted for a pair of nude strappy heels to give the look a more grown-up, professional feel. Adding a pair of heels to any outfit is a great way to up the style of the simplest of outfits. This outfit would also look great with a pair of booties in either black or taupe, for when the weather turns colder. She finishes her look with a large blush Tory Burch tote bag and gold accessories.

Still not sold on wearing white after Labor Day? Consider this, white is a main color for winter, so why would you not wear it? Outfits such as this Fashionistas are a great way to incorporate some white into your fall or winter wardrobe. If you are feeling bold I’d suggest going all in and pairing a white oversized knit with white pants. With all that being said, there are still some restrictions on white after Labor Day. I would leave your white eyelet dresses or tops in your closet until summer, those are better suited for summer picnics.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I think fashion is all about changing things up and staying on-trend or ahead of the trend. Fashion is always changing, so why shouldn’t we wear white after Labor Day?”
