STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: When Fall is Actually Still Summer

So here in the ‘Bu, we get a lot of the perks you might think of. Casual free movie screenings before the movie comes out? It happens. Having our required chapel on the beach at 7:00 a.m. with free surfing and paddle boarding? Every week. And, yes, Chris Massey from Zoey101 was on campus last week, fulfilling all of our childhood dreams of pretending we attended PCA, no big deal. While us Pepperdine students are living the dream, there is one thing that has not been ideal—the heat.

The Southern California drought/heat wave is in full swing. At 95 degrees, meaning it can be difficult to transition into fall, especially when we see social media accounts from the East Coast featuring PSLs. These photos are prompting us to break out our scarves and Hunter Boots, when our reality is tank tops and Rainbow sandals. Without AC in our dorms, we are having to tough it out.

Fortunately, most of the students are stylish and don’t want to forgo fashion in the name of comfort, so we find creative ways to express our fall-yet-summer emotions. This Fashionista rocked a super cute romper (it’s shorts in the back!) while stylishly combatting the heat. The structured one-piece gave the outfit a very polished look with minimal need for accessories. The cutout near her upper abdomen was a tasteful way to beat the heat. She added a pair of blue sandals and trendy jewelry to personalize her ensemble. She completed the look with the recently popular topknot, making it slightly edgy.

Want to stay cool and collected like this girl? Find a fun romper that can transition you to fall but keeps you cool in the summer.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “When it’s hot outside, go for a good fit over style in layers.”
