STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Vested Interest

The leaves have changed colors, the air is crisp and it’s a little bit blustery out. Welcome to fall in northern Maryland. After weeks of unseasonably warm weather, you can break out the booties, sweaters and vests for good. While I’m not really a jean wearer, this Fashionista makes me wish I broke out the jeans more than once in a while. There is a special art of cuffing the jean so that it works perfectly with booties, and this Fashionista has it down.

The vest has been particularly trendy the last few years and is showing no signs of fading. Easy, functional and fashionable, it pulls together any outfit. So if you don’t have a vest, I would suggest investing in one. The ability to just toss one on over your sweater, sweatshirt or dress is something I wouldn’t trade for anything.

This vest is cream with caramel colored suede accents and gold snaps. It is a little dressier than your average vest and adds a nice, preppy and somewhat equestrian vibe to this Fashionista’s outfit. A sweater in a soft berry color, almond colored booties, jeans and always classic pearls complements her look. The soft berry colored sweater has a subtle pattern that adds texture to the outfit. This outfit is perfect for a date, class and brunch. The almond colored booties dress up the outfit while adding a little bit of height. As a short girl, I love booties, as they make me a little taller without the precariousness that is walking in heels. If you traded the booties for riding boots, this outfit would be perfect for a late fall adventure.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “My style advice for the week is all about the vest. I love this vest. I’ve already worn it once this week.”
