STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Vest Your Case

Now that the leaves are turning brown and nights are getting chillier, it’s that time to bring out those jackets and scarves. Layering is probably one of my favorite things about fall fashion. You can really get creative with how you pair your year round pieces with those trendy fall items. While some may think it is complicated, layering is actually easy if you have some staples in your wardrobe. This doesn’t mean you have to layer all your bulky clothing items, because I know in California, fall isn’t really a thing. Plus, layering isn’t all about being warm now a days; it’s about taking your style to the next level by adding more items to your look, and creating eye-catching details that don’t go unnoticed.

This Fashionista is the perfect example of what layering is all about. She starts out with some basic pieces: a plain white T-shirt and some baggy jeans. I love how she takes these basics to the next level by tying her T-shirt in a knot and rolling up her jeans for a more polished feel. The long yellow vest really adds a statement to her look and can be paired with a cable knit sweater on chillier days. She accessorizes her look with gold details such as hoop earrings, layered necklaces and hardware on her skinny belt. Her nude strappy heels tie the look together and are perfect paired with long vests, which can sometimes make you look shorter.
My advice to you is to be a little brave next time you walk out the door. Add that extra necklace, or pull out that vintage belt to give your outfit just a tad more texture and excitement.
