STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Sweater Weather

The leaves are falling and the sweaters are coming out for that colder November weather! The fuzzy boots, warm socks and oversized cardigan sweaters are winter must-haves this year. For me this is the best time of the year, because you get to layer a bunch of different pieces to make a great fall look!  My new favorite fall trend is a big, comfy sweater. You can keep it casual by pairing it with leggings for class, or you can wear it for an evening out with the girls with a cute dress and some tights.

This Fashionista’s cardigan sweater is a great statement piece for the fall. It’s comfortable enough to wear to class when it gets too chilly outside, and equally as comfortable to lounge around in your room in.  You can easily throw it on over a long sleeve tee or flannel as you’re walking out the door on the way to classes.  I especially love the new blanket cardigan sweaters from Aerie, because it’s basically like getting to wear your most comfortable blanket, but as a fashion piece!  Picking a neutral color, like this Fashionista did, means that you can pair this sweater with almost any color top and it’ll look great!

This Fashionista paired her oversized sweater with a flannel top, jeans and lace-up boots. A flannel shirt is a classic fall piece that’s comfortable and stylish for those late nights by the bonfire.  You can stick with jeans like this Fashionista or trade them out for leggings.  Riding boots are great to pair with a flannel shirt, but you could even try booties with a heel to dress up the look a little bit. I absolutely love the bootie trend this winter, because they can work with a more causal or fancier look depending on what you wear them with.  Another great part of this Fashionista’s look is the chunky scarf.  Especially on those colder winter mornings on the way to your 8:00 a.m. classes, you’ll be able to keep warm with this stylish piece. Finally, this Fashionista finishes off her look with a bold statement necklace.

One of the best parts of this look is that it comes from a bunch of different stores. This Fashionista got her scarf from a craft fair, the necklace from a small boutique in St. Louis and the sweater from Ireland! And even though this Fashionista got her stylish sweater cardigan in Ireland, there are plenty of places you can go to get this great look!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I like to layer a lot in the fall to stay warm! I also love wearing riding boots to dress up an outfit.  I wear oversized sweaters almost every day with leggings to make it more casual.”
