ALL IN THE DETAILS: Saved By The Scarf

Spring has sprung, but when living in the Midwest, that doesn’t necessarily mean that the temperatures agree. While it may be sad to put your swimsuits and floppy hats back in your summer drawer, you can still have fun with accessories.

This Fashionista makes staying warm look adorable with her plaid blanket scarf. Her outfit is a combination of lighter pieces layered with accessories to add some warmth. Accessorizing during cooler days can sometimes be a challenge. This is especially true when you are trying so desperately to break into the spring season.

Blanket scarves are perfect for this time of year because they allow you to wear your favorite spring outfits during a cool day. Just throw on a blanket scarf with a light jacket and you’re set. Not only do they look great, but they are extremely versatile with numerous ways to wear them. It’s a must-have piece that is impossible to get bored with. You can also play with different patterns or add a pop of color with your scarf. This Fashionista chose to pair a plaid scarf with a striped shirt for a little pattern mixing.

Her other accessories are the icing on the cake. This Fashionista chose to wear an army green jacket. I have a similar one and I can’t tell you how many times it’s saved my life. It does the trick on a windy spring day (and not to mention, it goes with everything).

Her shoes and earrings add just enough hardware and shine to dress her look up, making it suitable for nearly any occasion from class to dinner with friends. This Fashionista looks flawless in her Ray-Bans, but if you have the same luck as me when it comes to sunglasses, I would opt for the cheaper alternative.

How To: Spring Fever got you down? No Worries. Put on your favorite spring weather outfit and pair it with an oversized blanket scarf to add extra warmth. Top it off with a light jacket and booties and you’re set!
