STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Not Over Overalls

My mom always told me, “Everything always comes back!” From concert T-shirts, to bell bottoms, to wedges from the ’80s, she saved them all. She knew that she would need them later when they came back in style. As always, she was so right. One of the coolest things about fashion is that pieces are reused and recycled and are transformed into styles that are completely new and trendy. A prime example of this is overalls.

Overalls, overall, overalls. What can I say? I love ’em. They are so easy to put on and create outfits that are trendy and chill. The best part about them is that they double as bottoms. Picking them out to wear is like picking out a complete outfit. How simple is that? The most fun part about them is the way you style what is underneath. There are endless opportunities! Overalls are perfect for days where you want look trendy but effortless at the same time.

This Fashionista pairs her light wash overalls with a loose striped T-shirt, Ray-Bans, and white sneakers for a cool ’90s look. Light wash denim is perfect for the hot weather because it is lighter on your body and gives off a summery, playful vibe. This Fashionista chose to wear her overalls on Reading Day here at Elon, a day dedicated to studying before finals begin. Her overalls are perfect for studying because they provide enough structure to help her stay focused on studying, yet are comfortable enough to spend the whole day in.

What’s your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Don’t be afraid to wear overalls, they’re versatile in that they can be worn throughout different seasons depending on what you pair with them underneath, anything from short sleeves to a sweater. Plus they’re comfy!”
