STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Made for Suede

If you ask any out-of-state student at a southern school what one of the best things about going to school in the south is, they almost always say the weather. It is October here in Georgia, but with temperatures still in the 80s, it feels like summer. Despite the fact that most students are still sporting tank tops and shorts, the local boutiques are focused on fall. All the mannequins in the display windows are decked out in fur vests, turtlenecks and over-the-knee boots. Though the style of each local boutique differs, one major trend that is present in all of them is suede.

Suede is a familiar face when it comes to fall trends, as it gained a lot of popularity last year. The great thing about suede is that it is extremely versatile, and it can be worn in many different forms from chokers to boots to skirts. Suede can also be used in combination with other trends, such as fringe on booties or hardware (like buttons) on a skirt. However, it is also a great material to stand on its own, like the suede dress that this Fashionista rocks.

This Fashionista’s camel colored suede dress features lace-up detailing at the neckline and is perfect for a night out in the fall. She complements her dress with a pair of black-an- white snakeskin booties and a basic black purse. To accessorize her look, this Fashionista kept it simple with gold hoops. Simplicity is also key when it comes to wearing suede. I recommend sticking to one suede item per outfit, as I truly believe in the fashion mantra “less is more.”
