STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Go Patterned

No matter what the occasion, there is always a reason to wear a button-down shirt. For men and women alike, this style of shirt can be worn casually out with friends, to class or formally to an interview. Button-downs come in an endless assortment of lengths, fabrics colors and patterns. With spring and sunny weather encompassing us, I find that patterned button-downs are the most seasonally appropriate and fashionable for when you’re just hanging out enjoying the day! I saw this beautifully dressed Fashionisto soaking in the sunshine as he was strolling downtown State College looking for a place to grab lunch. I (of course) immediately fell in love with his blue speckled button-down. The pattern on his shirt was subtle but still eye-catching, making him stand out in the crowd of Penn State students without looking outlandish.

He paired this button-down with an above-the-knee pair of khaki shorts. He shared that once he bought his first pair of above-the-knee shorts, he never went back to longer ones again. The length kept him feeling “agile and breezy,” in his own words. To accompany these shorts, he accessorized simply with a pair of mirrored aviators to give off a cool-guy vibe. With a pair of perfectly worn Sperry Top-Siders he looked ready for class, the bar or a family outing.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “If you’re going to go long sleeve when purchasing your button-down, make sure you roll those sleeves up when you’re out on the town! The roll-up gives some edge and makes the look complete in my opinion.”
