STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Give ‘Em The Slip

Happy autumn, Fashionista/os! One of my favorite ’90s trends is back and better than ever: the slip. Slip dresses or tops in the 1990s were usually paired with piece-y updos and strappy, square-toe sandals. Thankfully, today they could be styled in several different ways: you could go athleisure with adidas and a sporty jacket, or you could go more sophisticated with ankle boots and leather, and there are a countless other styles you could try.

Today our lovely fashion superstar is pairing a maroon slip top with an edgy leather jacket, paired with distressed denim and tight ankle boots. I think the color of the top is perfect for fall. Maroon and mauves are my favorite fall colors because they’re so warm and can be paired with pretty much anything in your closet. Leather jackets are also a fall fashion staple, they give even the prettiest outfit a dose of edge. My favorite part of this outfit are THOSE BOOTS. I could go on for days about them, they’re fantastic. They have the coolness factor of the Yeezy Season 2 boots, just, ya know, hundreds of dollars cheaper. They are also so versatile, and can be worn with pants or a dress, sweats or a slip, and you’ll still look like a rockstar.

It seems that lately, I’ve been seeing more and more original pieces in the fashion world. Almost everything seems to have their own story behind it, even if you only purchased it from the boutique yesterday. Jeans are already distressed, jackets are already embellished, backpacks already have buttons on them. I am currently in love with the patchwork denim jackets, or patchwork anything for that matter. They give such a personal touch to something that every American has in their closet. So go out there to a local thrift store, or an online boutique that no one knows about, and find yourself a beautifully unique piece (or pieces) that’ll spice up your wardrobe this season!
