STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Game, Set, Match!

Usually in fashion, matching sets are left for people in business, toddlers and those who think an all-denim look is stylish (think Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears at the 2001 American Music Awards). However, lately matching sets have been trendier than ever.  Whether it’s a matching skirt and crop top or shorts and tank top, coordinating patterns  will surely up your style game.

The first thing I thought of when I saw this look was my favorite movie, Clueless.  In the movie, Cher and her friends paraded around Beverly Hills in knee-high socks, crisp white blouses and  matching plaid skirt and jacket sets. Clueless showcased some of the best ’90s trends, many of which are coming back in style.  From overalls to plastic tattoo chokers to scrunchies, it seems like the ’90s are happening all over again.

A matching set is great for any occasion. From anything from a girl’s night out, brunch with your parents or a day party coming up try getting a little matchy-matchy by coordinating. What’s the best part of this trend? You never have to worry that your outfit doesn’t match!

Check out how this Fashionista styled her plaid matching skirt and crop top.  To play up the ’90s vibe of her plaid outfit, she slipped on some chunky platform boots.  She kept her accessories, sleek black aviators, a scrunchie, a gold vintage ring and a simple black bracelet, simple so as to not take away from the rest of her outfit.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “A matching two-piece set in classic ’90s plaid like this is a great way to make the transition from summer to fall.”
