STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Fighting The Studying Blues

The end is near, and with the overwhelming number of finals to study for and papers to write, it can be very easy to give up on one’s wardrobe, as well as find your mood feeling somber. In order to keep a smile on your exhausted face Fashionistas and Fashionistos, I suggest statement pieces, such as these Nike sneakers. Bright and comfortable, they make walking from the library to the dining hall, to class and back to the library just a little bit easier.

Although I couldn’t help but notice this Fashionisto’s colorful shoes, the initial reason I was attracted to him was his huge grin, uncommon for the time of the school year. Beaming so hard it looked like it hurt, he waltzed by me in his bright sneakers and comfortable Cornell pullover and I just had to stop him, proving just how important it is for one to feel confident and happy in what they wear. In a time of stress, confidence is the key, from your outfit to the exams you are about to take. I asked this Fashionisto why he layered a semi-formal button-up under his Cornell pullover, something quite casual, and he simply responded with “I feel confident with the button-up on. I have too much work to do in the library to wear a blazer, so I put this on instead. It’s so comfortable.”

Layering is key when traveling between buildings such as libraries and classrooms, and especially during finals week. All that walking can take a toll on your feet, which is certainly the case at Cornell University. I suggest taking your footwear choice into concern during these last couple weeks at school, and don’t be afraid to wear bright colors that will cheer you up!
