STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Denim in Distress

Fall is among us, and despite it being October already, in Florida where the seasons range from hot to hotter, the only thing reminiscent of fall is the addition of pumpkin spice lattes to the menu at Starbucks. Fall in Florida essentially means you’ll be chilly in the morning, but by 1:00 p.m., it will be 85 degrees again, you’ll be ready to throw that sweater you had on earlier away.

Because the weather is quite temperamental, layering is a must for fall in Tallahassee. One of the best and easiest ways to layer in my opinion is with the addition of a denim jacket like this Fashionista did. A denim jacket will keep you warm when it’s a little cold, but it also remains comfortable and not too warm when the temperatures start to rise again.

Besides being so functional, from a style standpoint, the addition of a denim jacket to a little black dress by this Fashionista transforms the look from simple and chic to effortlessly cool. Additionally, the acid-wash and the stud detailing on the jacket also work to add contrast and texture to an otherwise monochromatic and minimalistic look. This Fashionista completes her look with the addition of plum buckle ankle boots and a simple curved bar necklace.

What I loved about this Fashionista’s look was her ability to take basic staple pieces to create her outfit. All of the pieces are so simple on their own, but when put together create such a stylish look, proving that it doesn’t have to take much to look great.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Make sure you have a great denim jacket and a great pair of ankle boots in your closet. They will help keep your wardrobe versatile and are easy ways to mix up an outfit.”
