STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Color Showcase

We all know how important colors are when it comes to fashion trends. A wrong color choice could even put your look into a past season, ultimately affecting your trendiness. We don’t want that because you are always trendy! I believe that it is super important to stay informed with all the color trends of the changing fashion seasons. An easy trick to incorporate a color that will remain trendy all year long is to use the color of the year.

Fortunately, there are actually two colors of the year for 2016. Yep, two! That means there are more color options when you are looking to create a stylish outfit based on color trends. The colors of the year are blush pink and powdered blue. These pastels are perfect for the spring fashion season we are in now! When thinking about using these colors, I usually go for a big splash or just a pop of the color. I like to use both extremes because they create visual interest. Using a lot of the color makes a bold statement. Using only a little of the color makes the color actually stand out more when paired with opposite tones of color.

Check out this Fashionisto’s look, for example. He chose to showcase the powdered blue color of the year. The Fashionisto went with the small pop of color route, and he did quite well at creating a look that would show off the color. He started with an American Rag burgundy button-up and then layered a black zip-up vest over it. A Calvin Klein chambray, powdered blue tie was the finishing touch for the top portion, and also the color of the year showcase point! This color combination is perfect because the dark colors allow for the tie to pop and stand out more. His army green joggers and brown Steve Madden boots also added to the powdered blue tie being able to stand out.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I think everyone should take a chance with color. Using one of the colors of the year was a perfect way for me to incorporate a color I wouldn’t normally wear. Trends are the perfect way to experiment with new styles, so take a chance on new colors!”
