STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Button-Down Lowdown

September 30th, 2015 at 2:10am

The school year is here and it is time to search for your studious ensembles, because strutting your stuff on campus is a must for the fall semester. So much so, Fashionistas/os are rummaging through all the online summer sales before the fall lines even hit stores. Every Fashionista/o knows that feeling–fresh for your first day on campus with one of the latest trends, all eyes on you–leading you to the top of the class. The top of the best-dressed list, of course.

Retailers have been producing their own versions of the latest trends for the everyday consumer. They have particularly recognized the newly praised button-down skirts and have produced many varieties. Whether it be a jean or suede fabric, this trend has made its mark for the fall.

The button-down skirt can elevate your outfit immediately and this Fashionista knew this skirt would be her must-have piece for the fall. This trend has been mainly spotted as a jean button-down, but the suede adds to this Fashionista’s individuality. She has paired the skirt with an olive button-down, which she has kept buttoned all the way to the collar. This adds a feminine and studious approach to her look. Her ’90s-inspired lace-up booties add an extra edgy vibe that I adore. To tie her look together, she has worn her flower printed cross-body bag, which ties in her black booties and brown skirt.

If you are trying to make a chic impression for your first week on campus, button-downs are definitely an element you should be looking for.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “An earth-tone color palette is always a good go-to for fall.”
