STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Burgundy Everything

October 1st, 2015 at 2:00am

If you listen very, very carefully you may be able to hear the sounds of leaves twirling majestically to the ground and the satisfying ka-ching of cash registers as pumpkin spice aficionados everywhere line up to receive the infamous coffee beverage. That’s right Fashionistas/os, fall is finally back and it’s bringing all the classics with it.

From her rad undercut to cross-body bag, this Fashionista brings a modern twist to some cool vintage vibes. She is particularly on point with her choice of the color burgundy for her overall outfit theme. Warm colors like burgundy and orange are super on trend, partly due to the ’70s throwback in action this season, and also because they’re part of the classic fall pallet. With her corduroy circle skirt from American Apparel, this Fashionista rocks a fall-inspired outfit while working with the Florida heat.

Other ways to try the burgundy trend this fall include throwing a motorcycle jacket over a T-shirt dress or jeans for instant Rebel Without A Cause feels. Take your florals from summer into the colder months with a moodier print like this one, and wear it with a pair of black tights and motorcycle boots for a girly/grunge combo. You could also tie a denim shirt around your waist as the perfect neutral to balance the floral pattern. In my opinion denim shirts are the perfect outerwear choice for anytime in Florida, but that’s the subject for another article. Or you can eschew burgundy clothing choices and go the beauty route. Try a matching hair and lipstick combination like this Fashionista for a bold statement.
