STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Bow Tie Bliss

March 24th, 2015 at 2:00am

It is finally time to ditch those basic ties and switch to the ever so chic bow tie. I can honestly say that the basic tie has had a long run, but it is time to switch things up. Bow ties are a very professional look while still being super edgy and give you that trendy feel. When I see a guy wearing a bow tie, I always think to myself “Wow, what a statement.” The bow tie look is definitely a gutsy one, but nonetheless the right one.

This Fashionisto knew exactly what he was doing when he got ready this morning. I loved how the blue color scheme that he chose made me think of spring. When choosing a bow tie you should always coordinate solids and patterns. He did this perfectly by pairing a solid bow tie and a striped button-up. You don’t want to go overboard with the look by pairing patterns with patterns. It was refreshing to see that he knew he should tuck his shirt in as well. The days where you left your button-down untucked are over my friends.

What else do you pair with a bow tie? Well, I highly suggest taking inspiration from his outfit choices since they were so on point. He tied the whole look together by adding a tan belt to add some dimension to the blues and gold framed sunglasses. His Tiffany & Co. blue loafers completed the look and added a bit of hipster flare to the outfit.

The bow tie stands out to me because I can see the versatility in it. When I see someone in a tie, it doesn’t jump out as me as being super trendy. On the other hand, when I see a bow tie, I think that is one stylish guy.
