STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Bohemian Winter

Finals are upon us, which means it is time to stop and smell the flowers. Seriously, do it. There are plenty of flowers on SMU’s campus and if you do not go to SMU, visit your local florist. Let your inner bohemian free, which is exactly what this Fashionista decided to do.

Her mini dress gives off the very essence of a bohemian child—flowy and short. She styled the dress with a tassel necklace, which is subtle while bringing out the red in the dress. She is also wearing gold jewelry—rings and a watch.

Tassels and fringe are popular elements in bohemian style; they are not only found in jewelry, but can also be seen in shoes, handbags and other accessories.

What makes this look really stand out is the pattern. The southwestern print makes you want to take in the sun; however, temperatures are dropping. But even with the cold weather, Southwestern-inspired prints can still brighten your day.

You can easily turn a fun summer mini dress into winter attire. This Fashionista decided to wear her bohemian dress with boots and knee-high socks. The boots and socks give her feet warmth, while adding detail to her look; talk about style and comfort.

Don’t put your mini dress away when snow hits the ground. Try a sweater dress with a thick southwestern print scarf. The look would go great with over-the-knee boots and you will be good to go for a bohemian winter. Doesn’t it make you want to sit next to a fireplace and drink a big mug of hot chocolate?

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “The best way to pull off [my] look without taking it too far, is to pick the right accessories. I pair mine with simple shoes and subtle jewelry so that the dress can really stand out.”
