STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Being Bold

This fall, bold prints will be making an appearance. Used in the form of pants, tops or dresses, they easily create a focal point for an outfit. This week’s Fashionista is rocking an abstract dress that demands attention with an assortment of bright and soft colors that complement her skin tone. Abstract patterns create interest within an ensemble because of their variation. When paired together, the abstract design and bold colors give the wearer the advantage of simplifying his or her outfit, while maintaining an effortlessly dressy look. Bold patterns have the ability to become overwhelming or busy. To avoid this from happening this season, keep it simple and let the design of the fabric speak for itself!

The asymmetrical hem on this dress incorporates a flirty flair to our Fashionista’s style and brings out the movement already in the fabric. She continues to enhance this by adding charm bracelets that sparkle and move with her. Her gemmed charm bracelet takes color from within her dress and adds fluidity into her personalized accessories. The light tan kate spade watch maintains a chic, yet professional vibe and avoids drawing too much attention away from her dress with the help of its neutral color.

Note that our Fashionista also chose to mix metals here! Some may say that it is best to pick either a few pieces of gold or silver jewelry, but don’t be afraid to go against what can be the norm. In this case, mixing metals works variation into her bracelets and ties together her metallic sandals with the rest of her accessories.

Finally, finish off your look with a fresh face! Just as you would choose to focus on either a colorful shadow and nude lip or dark lip with a simple eye for a bold makeup choice, choose a more natural guise to keep the emphasis on the bold piece you want to exhibit.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “When making up an outfit, pick a piece that you would like to be showcased and construct your outfit around that. Bold pieces shouldn’t have attention taken away from them. Instead, they should be the talking points of the ensemble!”
