STYLE ADVICE: Coffee Break

In the winter, walking the streets of Historic Clinton, New Jersey, you find it full of holiday spirit. Toy soldiers and garland hanging on the bridge, Santa’s workshop, and the lights wrapped on every tree. You walk along history, boutiques, art, ice cream shops, a fudge shop, a cheese shop, restaurants, etc., but at the west end is the gem of the town, the Red Mill. It is a symbol of western New Jersey, subject of many photographs. The Mill and its surroundings preserve the image of the agricultural and industrial qualities of the county.

To find some warmth, you find yourself deciding between two coffee places at the end of the street. One with large window and the other more tucked away yet just as intriguing with its white wooden door. While in this predicament myself, I spotted a Fashionisto walking out of the white wooden door. He sports a grey turtleneck topped with a blue waxy-looking jacket. Turtlenecks have been appearing more in stores. Having been iconic in the eighties, the fashion trend had faded in the last decade, but has picked up again. Having seen the trend more on girls, I sought him out.

With the slight wind that day, this Fashionisto chose to wear his turtleneck for the added warm around the neck. To layer for more cold-weather practicality, he wore his Barbour wax jacket. As the winter chill blew, it reveals the quilted pattern inside the jacket, which his grey turtleneck perfectly complimented the grey and yellow colors inside of the jacket. To pull off the look, he chose leather Clark lace-up boots of a classic wingtip design with his khakis tucked in. The tan leather color adds more color to his outfit that is not just focused on the top.

This look indeed is something ideal for sitting in a coffeehouse, perhaps writing a poem, catching up with an old friend or just simply enjoying a cup of coffee on a chilly winter day in a local town.
