FASHION FROM ABROAD: Winters in Paradise

Short skirts, crop tops, sundresses, and sandals are not just for the summer season over in Puerto Rico. The winter season is always associated with snow and cold weather, making sweaters, boots, and scarves the main garments used when styling an outfit. However, over in the small Caribbean island of Puerto Rico, winter is just an excuse to brag to people facing cold weather about the warm sun, beautiful beaches, and year-long tans.

Having spent every single summer and winter in Puerto Rico but going to school in the Blue Ridge mountains has forced me to have two separate closets–my “winters in the U.S.” closet and my “winters in Puerto Rico” closet, which basically contains all of my summer clothes. After walking around the island and looking at what college girls are wearing, I’ve noticed that comfort seems to be the main trend. Being in the heat all day, Fashionistas choose to dress in lighter clothing while still looking stylish.

This Puerto Rican Fashionista seems to have the right idea when it comes to spending winters in paradise. She has replaced sweaters with crop tops, tights with printed harem pants, and boots with sandals. Her white crop top is the perfect choice for anyone trying to show off a tan and paired with her harem pants she fits in perfectly for the beachy-chic look. She accessorized her look with the perfect choker and trendy gold initial necklace. Paired with the perfect pair of strappy sandals, this Fashionista ready for wherever her day takes her. Whether it’s the beach or walking downtown, her outfit is sure to stand out.
