BEAUTY BAR: Take A Lip Of Faith

It’s that time of the year again: time to ditch our boots for sandals and sweaters for tank tops. Since dog days here in Canada are ephemeral, we embrace the weather with glee. It’s out of character for me to dress according to the weather (sorry mom I will never learn) but I do enjoy switching up my makeup every season. In winter, for example, I have a penchant for dark vampy looks while in the summer I like to play with colors. Since I make it a point to project colors in the best way possible, it is only fair I devote this article to a summer makeup look, but most importantly, a summer lipstick shade.

This Fashionista made heads turn with her cool playful makeup look. She opted for a dewy skin finish and just the right amount of bronzer and highlighter for that golden summer glow. She paid homage to brown eyeshadow and wore a subtle smokey eye; she used two different shades of brown on her lid and crease and finished the look with a little wing liner. The brown really complemented her ocean blue eyes! She also sported natural, bold eyebrows that really pulled the look together. Last but definitely not least, she rocked a beautiful dusty warm terracotta shade on her lips. The shade flattered her copper hair and really made the whole look stand out. Not to mention she got her bang for her buck (pun intended) with her gorgeous curls. This Fashionista further induced the vividness in her attire by flaunting a pink dress with a white lacy kimono, pretty jewelry and a pair of strappy wedges.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To recreate this makeup look, start off with a water-based foundation. Do not forget to hydrate and prime your face first for that beautiful dewy look. The Nivea Men’s After Shave balm (highly recommended by makeup artists) can work as an outstanding primer! For that golden look, brush and blend Benefit’s Hoola bronzer on the hollows of your cheek, and work your way through the forehead and jawline. If you want that extra summer glow, add a highlighter to your regime: Becca’s Opal is extremely pigmented and has a beautiful golden sheen to it. Now on to eyeshadow: this whole look can be recreated using any two brown shades. The Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette offers a range of cool tone and warm tone matte browns. To end the look, pop on Bumble from Colourpop’s Ultra Matte liquid lipstick line. And voila! You are summer makeup ready.
