BEAUTY BAR: Silver Linings

February 15th, 2016 at 2:00am

A few years ago, gray hair was thought to be a sign of aging. For many years, men and women all over put in a great amount of effort into covering up their gray strands. Well, fast forward to 2016, and gray is considered one of the hottest hair trends. In fact, the younger generations are speeding up the “aging” process to achieve this chic look.

Many young women today are taking the dive into this bold trend and rocking silver tresses. This Fashionista pulls off this look effortlessly, and is absolutely flawless with her silver mane. The makeup this Fashionista wore brought out the cool tones of the silvery hue of her hair, and really tied this ensemble together. Her bold lip and smoldering eye complemented her minimalistic outfit. This Fashionista’s clothing choice was simple, yet classic, combining the muted shades of army green and maroon with her black jeans.

A lot of people would be surprised at how easy it is to pull off this metallic hair trend. Unlike other wild hair colors, the silver allows Fashionistas/Fashionistos to wear pretty much any color of clothing and any makeup routine they wish. There is also a multitude of different directions you can take this trend in order to make it your own. Some examples are silver with a touch of lilac, highlights of pastel pinks and even darker gray lowlights for a more natural look. A fan of the ombre trend? Well, lucky for you, gray looks amazing when melted in with hundreds of different hair colors. The possibilities are endless!

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: Want to be bold and experiment with this hot hair trend? Here’s how! To recreate this Fashionista’s RAD hair, you can use Kenra Color—Guy Tang Metallics dye on pre-lightened hair. For makeup, you can use any smoky eye shadow palette, such as Urban Decay’s Naked Smoky palette. For her lips, this Fashionista got creative and mixed two Velour Liquid Lipstick shades—Masochist and Abused—by Jeffree Star Cosmetics.
