BEAUTY BAR: Green With Envy

If there is anything that I love more than fashion, it would be the beauty industry. In my short amount of free time, I tend to find myself reading up on skin care/makeup launches or watching tutorials on techniques to include into my own routine. I follow countless beauty bloggers who feed my endless love for cosmetics. This look is inspired by some of my favorite trends that are huge this fall.

The three beauty trends in this look are strobing, defined brows, and colored winged liner. You’ve probably already seen models rock at least one of these looks on the runways at Fashion Week.

Is strobing taking over contouring, you ask? I think yes! It is a more subtle and natural take on shaping the face but with less drama than contouring. It is also much more day time appropriate. The idea behind strobing is to bring light to the high points of the face, such as your cheekbones, temples and the bridge of your nose. To achieve this “glowing from within” look, use a liquid highlight first. Then grab your favorite pressed highlighter to set the cream. Strobing will allow you to embrace your natural features without the harsh lines that can happen with contouring. Don’t worry! I am not telling you to skip our beloved bronzer. After you’ve highlighted and applied foundation, use a darker powder to warm up the skin rather than creating shadows for that chiseled look. I think this is such a fresh and youthful trend that everyone should incorporate into their beauty routine ASAP.

Let’s discuss this Fashionista’s gorgeous eye look. I am swooning over her forest green liner and bold defined brows. Colored liner can seem a little intimidating at first, but I swear this trend is totally wearable if you pick the correct shade. I would lean towards navys, dark greens and plums. I promise these will accentuate any eye color beautifully.

Bold brows are nothing new. Having great brow game is something I hold very close to my heart. Brows are what shapes the face and gives your look dimension. I suggest you use a fine tip pencil (as close to your shade as possible) and lightly fill in the brows, mimicking the direction the hairs grow. This will allow you to achieve a natural, but full brow. To complete the look, this Fashionista applied some false lashes for added glamor.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To achieve this look; you’ll need a colored gel liner, the perfect highlighter to accentuate the high points of your face, and your favorite brow product.
