BEAUTY BAR: Gorgeous, Grunge Braids

The double french braid look might look complicated, but it’s one of the easier braids to do. The fall season always seems to bring out this altered, grunge-reputation look and, this year, it’s all about having slick braids complemented with an edgy outfit. The overall look is favorable for the weather changes and is a look you can rely on when waking up with major bed head. This Fashionista, in particular, reminded me of the braided hair trend Mara Hoffman included in her fall/winter 2015 runway collection. Despite slight differences, this Fashionista seemed to pair her sleek beauty trend with an edgy, altered outfit, mixing a vintage white dress with a classic leather jacket. Instead of just combining opposite styles together with the jacket and dress, she created her own medium by braiding her hair and completing her look.

To create a similar look, first split your hair down the center without allowing it to be too neat. Next, spray a sea salt spray, I recommend Fudge Urban’s Sea Salt Spray, and lightly dry your hair with a hairdryer and a little brushing. Doing so will allow your hair to have more texture, giving the braids a fuller look. Braid on both sides, keeping the braids tight and tie with small hairbands. Finally, always end the look by spraying some hairspray in your hair to hold the little strands together. If your hair is too fine to get the full braids you desire, then add some weave to your head to bulk it out; you can either get it tied in a salon or clip-ins that you can do yourself daily.

Finally, although it may be your first day of school or your second week, don’t let your braids look like it’s your first day. Once finished, pulling the sides to loosen up the braid is okay, as long as it doesn’t fall out. Now, go to your vanity and make your sea salt spray your most prized possession. Experiment with your hair and create your own inspired Mara Hoffman beauty trend.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To complete this look, you will need to purchase some sea salt, a blowdryer, hairspray and some hairbands.
