BEAUTY BAR: Can't Rain On My Parade

Spring is finally here! It’s time to come out from under the covers and go outside and enjoy the sunshine. Maybe. We all know that with spring comes rain and we all know the saying, “April showers bring May flowers.” As much as we would like to skip the rain and just get straight to the flowers, we have to welcome the gray before we can enjoy the colors. But this doesn’t mean that our look has to be gray and drab—the gray months at the beginning of spring call for makeup that makes a statement!

This Fashionista has nailed the rainy day look! She keeps warm and dry with her hooded coat, but also keeps it fresh by opting for one in a bright red color. Complementing her red coat is a pair of dark wash jeans as well as black booties and a cross-body bag. To keep with the theme of making a statement, she is wearing a black halter bodysuit under her coat. If you aren’t ready to take the full plunge, you can swap out the body-suit for a halter top. Finishing her outfit off is her clear umbrella that doesn’t compete for attention and keeps her dry. Make sure to keep your outfit simple, like this Fashionista has done, if you are going to be going for a bold makeup look.

The dark and drab beginning of spring shouldn’t deter you from looking rad, but should instead inspire you to find a bold outlet. This Fashionista has done so through her makeup. On this rainy day, she chose to go for a bold eye and an understated lip. Her eyes pop with gray and black eyeshadows, black eyeliner and false eyelashes. Her understated lip compliments, rather than competes with her eyes, by use of nude or pink colors. Sticking with the bold statements, she has taken a twist on the boring black nail by adding gold sparkle polish to the bottom of her nails.

Rainy days should never be a reason to frown. Instead, they should be a reason to find an outlet through your look and smile because of how fabulous you are.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? To recreate this look you will need a pale pink lip pencil, a nude pink liquid lipstick and a pale pink cream lipstick for your lips as well as black and gray eyeshadows, black gel eyeliner and falsies to make your eyes pop. Also, to finish it off and help your makeup outlast the rain, apply a translucent setting powder and/or setting spray.
