BEAUTY BAR: Bloody Ombré

Fall is well underway and this incredible season makes styling so much easier. In addition to cooler temperatures, we welcome wonderful layers, richer colors and incredible fashion. Now, colors that reflect the season are becoming popular, not only with our garment choices, but in our makeup routines, as well.

I caught up with this Fashionista on a windy day on campus. She struggled to keep her hair out of her face as she zipped by, and her makeup immediately stood out among her entire ensemble. Her lips featured a range of luscious reds, which were lightest in the middle and grew darker as it moved out. Different variations of ombré have remained on trend for a long time now, and it appears as though the look is not going anywhere anytime soon. A variety of lipsticks were worn to achieve this look. A dark adobe red lip pencil outlines the frame of her lips. Next, MAC Matte Lipstick in Sin is worn on the outer part, followed by MAC Viva Glam III and finally MAC Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo in the center. Smoky purple eye shadow frames her eyelids, adding even more drama to this look. The detail that went into highlighting and evening out her face makes her complexion glow.

This Fashionista balances out her dramatic makeup with an outfit that is bright and fresh. A light tan jacket with gold trim covers her white V-neck wrap shirt, which is tucked under white cuffed jeans. On her feet she donned white sneakers, and held a large and bold black bag. Gold jewelry popped out from her hands and neck, completing the outfit with a classy shine.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To achieve this vivid look, search for three lipsticks of varying shades and apply them from lightest to darkest. Apply eyeshadow that is pigmented enough to stand out on its own, but does not overpower the main focal point—your lips. Add a highlighter to your face to make your cheekbones pop, and add the ombré lip to your makeup routine.
