BEAUTY BAR: Berry Me

With the holidays just around the corner, deeper colors are the necessary staple for the colder months. Thanksgiving is already here, which means bring on the evergreen, deep navy and cranberry colored clothing, accessories and makeup essentials. My favorite look this holiday season is to take a neutral outfit, and add a pop of color, whether on your nails, lips or eyelids.

This Fashionista in particular chose to utilize the bold lip. Specifically, she picked a berry shade of lip stain to do the trick. Even though shades of deep purple and rich browns are popular this winter season, this wine lipstick provides an easy alternative to those who aren’t ready for the extreme lip trend. Not only does this color remind me of the holiday season, but it also is versatile, as well. Because her outfit is very simplistic, the color is the perfect shade for any time of the day. In Syracuse, the weather has been surprisingly warm for being one of the snowiest campuses in the world. This Fashionista chose to reuse some of her fall clothes on this sunny day to create a neutral outfit that tied her whole look together, wine lips and all. She paired this long sleeve, gray T-shirt dress with some knee-high socks in a maroon color. The look remains more winterized with this black pair of heeled booties. For a jacket and extra warmth, she threw on this oversized military green one. My favorite part about this jacket is its blazer-like feel and large pockets; it’s essential for a busy college student. This layered look wouldn’t be complete without her pop of wine lipstick, which ultimately makes the whole ensemble.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To achieve this look, grab your favorite berry lipstick. Whether it’s matte, glossy or with a hint of sparkle, apply as much as you want to create a bold look that is still appropriate for your 8:00 a.m. class. Keep the rest of your makeup to a minimum. Apply a tinted B.B. cream and add some highlighter and bronzer to your face. With a coat of black mascara and a little bit of eyeliner, you’re ready to head out the door!
